Office Supervisor

I can't deny that I was in shock and very emotional. The hardest decision I ever had to make was about to be made. I cried every night for 3 months until they were sure about me having D.C.I.S. You see my breast cancer was so early that Mercy Hospital even agreed to send my test results out to EXPERTS for their diagnosis. I finally got the results and it was determined I had D.C.I.S.

After crying every night and many medical opinions from other doctors I know who I work with, family and friends, I decided to go and have a mastectomy with reconstructive surgery right after the mastectomy. I will tell you that I was devastated and very emotional for a year after my surgery. The entire surgery including the reconstruction took 8 hours. I was sent home from the hospital 3 days later with drains and in a lot of pain. For the longest time, I could not find the right position to sleep on in the bed. My entire body hurt no matter if I tried to sleep on my side, my stomach or my back. I have been told by many women how brave I was to endure such an operation.

It's been almost 9 years since that misfortune and I am doing well and moving on with my life. Thank you, dear Jesus. I feel for anyone that has been hit with breast cancer but let me say the following words to you. I encourage you to stay strong and don't give up because everything works out at the end. Women endure pain. You will be an even better woman after you have survived what I did. God bless.
